Tommy’s Favorite Loungewear

There’s a time and a place for your old college sweats, but let’s be honest, they’ve seen better days. Whether your husband works from home, lounges on the couch after golf, or travels frequently, it’s time to elevate his off-duty wardrobe. The best loungewear is comfortable but polished. It should be soft enough for Sunday lounging, but put-together enough that he can run to school drop-off if necessary. 

Considering Tommy spends his life in Duck Head (reviewed here) or Holderness & Bourne (review coming soon), he definitely prefers a more dressed-up wardrobe. And these loungewear brands all get his stamp of approval since they have premium fabrics, great fit, and timeless style.

The Best Loungewear for Men

Thomas Hill Boxers

Thomas Hill only makes one thing – boxers – but they do it exceptionally well. My husband doesn’t wear them under clothes, but instead he uses them purely as loungewear or for sleeping.

They’re made from high-quality fabrics that are incredibly soft and breathable, with a fit that’s miles beyond the usual baggy cotton shorts. They look and feel polished enough that he can wear them around the house without looking sloppy.

If your guy likes to hang out in boxers at home and you’d rather he do it in a pair that looks as nice as an Oxford shirt, Thomas Hill boxers are the perfect upgrade. They’re understated, well-made, and just structured enough not to look like he’s in his underwear in the driveway when he’s helping me rush out the door, buckling kids into carseats. Vuori

Vuori has earned a loyal following for good reason. Their signature DreamKnit fabric is unbelievably soft and lightweight. Think athleisure meets luxury lounge. What I love about Vuori is how easily it transitions from lounging to life. He can wear it for travel days or weekend errands without ever looking sloppy. (Not that he’d ever leave the house looking sloppy – it’s not his style.) If your guy tends to overheat or dislikes heavy sweats, Vuori is worth every penny. Plus, everything washes beautifully with no pilling or stretching out.

Holderness & Bourne

Known for their golf apparel, Holderness & Bourne also makes some of the best loungewear-adjacent pieces out there. Tommy has the Wallace Hoodie Sweater in three colors because he loves it so much. (He has described it as a warm hug on a cold day. Seriously.) Their Jackson Pullover and Lawson Hoodie are also ideal for layering.

Their performance quarter-zips are a particular favorite in our house. Tommy wears them year-round, whether he’s heading to the course, working from home, or just relaxing after dinner. They have a polished fit that looks tailored but never tight, and the fabrics are breathable with just the right amount of stretch.

If your husband likes golf or appreciates good quality, Holderness & Bourne is THE definition of quiet luxury.

LAKE

LAKE is known for their women’s pajamas (I live in mine), but their men’s line deserves just as much love. The Men’s Pima Sleep Set is insanely soft, made from Peruvian Pima cotton that gets better with every wash. They’re crisp, tailored, and refined and definitely not your typical flannel PJs. The Bamboo Lounge Set is also unreal in its softness and made with moisture-wicking bamboo. It’s a little more wearable outside the home than the Pima set.

Faherty

Faherty is kind of surf-luxe…think California casual. Their pieces feel more relaxed than others on this list so they’re great for guys who prefer a more casual look. While surf-luxe is absolutely nothing like my husband’s style, he still loves their pieces since they’re incredibly soft and fit well. 

The High Standard Fleece Hoodie has its name for a reason. It’s buttery soft, warm, and fits like a dream. Pair it with the High Standard Fleece Sweatpant for a set.

Faherty’s fabrics always have that worn-in softness right out of the box, and the colors (like muted blues, heathers, and earthy neutrals) are timeless.

If your guy likes pieces that feel a little more “vacation mode” but still pulled together, Faherty is the one.

Quince

For men who appreciate high quality without the luxury price tag, Quince delivers. Their SuperSoft Fleece Joggers and Organic Cotton Tees rival brands twice the price, and their Mongolian Cashmere Sweatshirt is a great option if your guy prefers a more dressed-up loungewear look like my husband.
