Hi! I’m TeriLyn, or Teri. Either is fine with me! I’m a mom to a very active toddler, Thomas, and had a second baby boy in January 2024. I love love love being a mom!! I’m married to Tommy, whom I met on a blind date after saying no for a year. (Nothing against him – I’d just had some bad relationships before!)
I was born and raised in Utah and I moved to North Carolina in my early 20s, which is where I met Tommy when I was 30. We dated for three years before getting married (and only had 25 people at our wedding).
I first started blogging in 2004 and now almost 20 years later, I’m still at it – but now it’s my full-time job, not only a hobby! I love to share running advice, links to my favorite shopping finds (fashion, skincare and makeup!) and a little bit about my family.
THANK YOU FOR BEING HERE!
I grew up in Draper, Utah, which is about 30 minutes outside Salt Lake City. I graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in business management and corporate finance. I started my first blog in college, sharing about my classes, training for my first half marathon and just a little bit of life. After graduation, I went on to work at Goldman Sachs as a financial analyst and I absolutely loved the intensity of that job. I also worked with some of the smartest people I’ve ever encountered in my professional career.
When I moved to North Carolina in 2008, I started working at a large regional bank, BB&T (now Truist) as a compensation consultant. I absolutely hated it. That’s why I started my next blog, A Foodie Stays Fit, to share recipes, updates about my running (I was training for my first full marathon) and general life updates.
I eventually moved to the Marketing department at BB&T to help with social media because… of this blog. I knew financial services AND social media, a somewhat rare combination. After a few years in that role, I took a job at Wells Fargo to manage social media campaigns and video production projects with a bigger reach and bigger budgets. I absolutely loved it (until the company fell apart, but that’s another story).
During all this time, I kept blogging and sharing on social media. In 2019, I decided to leave Corporate America after 15 years and focus solely on running what is now terilynadams.com in a full-time capacity. I’ve never once regretted quitting my 9-5 job in financial services to work for myself.
Over the last 20+ years, my blog has evolved with me. I changed states, changed relationships, changed jobs and changed my perspective on so many things. My love for fashion and beauty is something I discovered in my 30s, but my love of running has continued all this time and I have run over 50 races, including the Boston Marathon.
Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to work with amazing brands like Nordstrom, On Running, Brooks Running, Whole Foods, Walmart, Target and many others. I’ve also been a guest on multiple podcasts and news segments. I’m so honored to work with so many amazing organizations!

My desert island makeup pick? Brow gel. But let’s be honest, if I’m traveling, I’m taking concealer, foundation, blush, mascara, lipstick AND brow gel in my purse so I’ll be looking polished, even if stranded.
Our favorite trip we’ve taken is to Ireland. We hope to go back soon!
I love love love love being a mom. We weren’t sure we could have kids and I never take motherhood for granted. It’s hard, yes, but my son makes me laugh everyday.
I eat 2-4 pieces of toast a day and I take my coffee black.
If I could shop online at only one place for the rest of my life, it’d be Tuckernuck. Locally, I’d choose Rebecca & Co.
I like to think I’m funny… but my humor and sarcasm are often lost on people on the internet. Alas.
