Sneakers have been a wardrobe staple for a few years now, but in 2025, sneakers will reign supreme (thank goodness, right?). The trends this year are pointing to lots of sneaker-wearing, and as a busy mom of two boys, I’m thrilled to know my most comfortable shoes are also the “it” shoe this year.

The main sneaker trends I’m noticing this year are slim soles, animal print, silver, and “court” styles. Whether you’re into minimal leather kicks or bold, retro silhouettes, there’s a sneaker trend for you right now. I absolutely love Veja sneakers for their mix of sustainability, timeless style, and comfort, but there are so many great options to explore. Let’s get into the trendy sneakers I’m loving right now.

The #1 sneaker trend I’ve been watching is the extra-slim sole look since this isn’t my favorite look, but I was certain there had to be one I like! These sneakers have a super sleek, low-profile look and feel polished (but still casual). You can style them with everything from straight-leg jeans to dresses and even tailored trousers. Brands like Sam Edelman, Adidas, Loewe, and Larroude have great options. I love this Zaria Lace Up Sneaker for an affordable option. The Irma Lace Up Sneaker has a fun lace situation. If money were no object, I’d order the Flow Suede Retro Runner Sneakers, but Dolce Vita does make a good dupe. Last year, I discovered Tretorn sneakers, which have been such a great shoe in my closet–they’re one of my favorite styles of sneakers to wear with dresses.

Leopard Print

I’m not exactly sure how I feel about animal prints coming back in full force, but I absolutely loved leopard print flats and heels when they were on trend a decade ago, so I’m certain I’ll get into it with sneakers. Whether you go for a full-on leopard print sneaker or just a touch of print on the heel or tongue like these New Balance 327s, animal print instantly elevates even the most basic outfits (and basic outfits are the key! Let the shoes do the talking and stick to simple basics for the rest of your look). Dolce Vita has a pair of leopard print sneakers for around $150, Golden Goose has a cute animal print option, and I like the leopard logo on these New Balance sneakers for a more subtle nod to the trend.

Classic tennis-inspired sneakers are a must-have this year. If you’ve been eyeing Adidas Sambas or Gazelles, now’s the time to grab a pair—these iconic styles have been dominating street style and Instagram feeds. Their suede and leather combo feels vintage yet modern, making them a versatile addition to any closet.

Looking for a more understated version? The Veja Esplar and Campo sneakers offer a court-inspired silhouette with a slightly more polished feel. They pair perfectly with wide-leg trousers, slip skirts, and even casual dresses.
