Football season is almost here, and I’m here for it! While we don’t hold season tickets, we do go to a few App State games in Boone each season. I love a fall football game, especially in the mountains.
I shared a full blog post with my favorite outfits for football games, but I thought one game-day outfit essential needed its own post: clear crossbody bags.
If you’ve been to a football game (or concert) recently, you probably noticed that your purse had to be clear, or if not clear, super small. That’s because most large stadiums have started implementing clear bag policies. The goal is obviously to make sure people aren’t bringing sketchy stuff into games, which is great for safety, but it can still be hard to find a cute clear bag for stadiums.
I rounded up several of my favorite picks below, from a tiny crossbody to a roomy tote and even a designer splurge, so there’s an option no matter your budget or your style. And if you’re pairing yours with cowboy boots, I’ve got a whole post on how to style cowboy boots, too.
Smart shopper note: there are usually some clear bags included in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, so if you’re reading this in sale season, check there before you pay full price.

This one is my favorite of the bunch, hands down.
The Truffle Clarity Mini Crossbody Carryall is small, simple, and chic. It’s structured enough to hold its shape, and it still looks elevated instead of like a plastic pouch.

The Away clear bag is hard-sided, so it holds its shape if you shove it under your seat or if you get shuffled through a crowd. Nothing inside gets crushed.
It’s a great pick if you care most about your bag protecting your things and not only being cute. But I think it’s cute, too.

Stoney Clover Lane has the most variety of any bag on this list. Colors, straps, even monogram options, all at a price that doesn’t feel crazy for a clear tote. If you like your bag to feel a little more ‘you’, start here.
It’s still a classic tote shape, so it holds a lot.

This one is a simple, purse-shaped clear tote from Amazon, and it’s polished enough that you could carry it somewhere nicer than a tailgate. That’s the main difference between this one and the next pick, which is much more function over form.

This is the clear stadium bag for anyone who just wants to bring everything (fellow moms understand).
It’s roomy, has cup holders on the outside, and leans more toward a beach bag than a purse. If you’re the one carrying snacks, sunscreen, and everyone’s phone charger, this clear stadium tote is built for that job.
It’s not the cutest one on this list. But it’s the most useful, and some days that wins.

If you’re going to be standing or dancing the whole time (or chasing a kid around the stadium), who wants to fumble with a tote or even a crossbody?
The Katie Loxton clear belt bag is hands-free and small enough to pass as a clutch under most stadium policies, but it still fits the basics. Phone, ID, cash. That’s really all you need anyway.

This one’s the splurge.
The Tory Burch Mini Romy Clear Bucket Bag costs more than the rest of this list combined. You’re paying for the bucket silhouette and the name, not an extra function.
But if you want a nicer bag in your stadium bag rotation, this is the one I’d pick. It still checks every box the clear bag policy cares about.
Most stadiums stick to the same standard: a clear tote up to 12″ x 6″ x 12″, or a small clutch around 4.5″ x 6.5″ if it’s not clear. I’d still double-check your specific stadium’s site before you go, since some venues tweak it slightly.
Nope. Most stadiums, including anywhere that follows the NFL clear bag policy, don’t allow backpacks, clear or not. Grab one of the totes above instead and save yourself the hassle at the gate.
It really just comes down to your preference and style. I want something a little cuter for a concert than I’d carry to a football game, so I’d reach for the Truffle or the Tory Burch.
Yes. Stoney Clover Lane has monogramming and team color options.
If you’ve got a game or concert on the calendar, one of these seven bags is coming with you. Most stadiums and arenas won’t let you in the door with anything else, so this isn’t really optional.
But clear bags only really work for one thing: getting into a stadium. So it’s worth having a few normal options in rotation for everywhere else you carry a purse.
For warm weather or anything beachy, these cute cute straw bags still get more wear out of my closet than almost anything else I own. If you need something more polished for the office, these designer work tote options hold up much better day-to-day than anything clear ever will. And if you’re shopping for a bag that has to survive diaper-bag duty and still look decent, the best purses for moms is worth a read. Let’s just save the clear bag for game day.
