Happy Sunday! I hope you’ve had a lovely weekend. Mine kicked off Friday night with dinner with a friend, which was really fun. We went to First Street Draught House and I ordered my usual Greek Salad + chicken and a side of sweet potato fries. On Saturday morning, I took Maizey on a walk to the Krankies Airstream for some coffee for me and lots of sniffs for her.
She was obsessed with this plant! I eventually had to drag her off of it!
I was down in Charlotte for most of the day yesterday, and I then came home in the evening, ordered Thai food and relaxed on the couch and caught up on Nashville. It was a crazy week and it was so nice to decompress for a bit and snuggle with Maizey. I think she’s been feeling neglected. 🙁
Today I have some work to get done and I’m headed to the West End Holiday Homes Tour with my friend Carolyn (who owns the Pure Barre Winston-Salem and Pure Barre Clemmons studios). She’s such a smart and funny woman – I love hanging out with her!
Alright, let’s get onto the Weekender!
M – 5 miles, 33:54, 6:46 pace + 1/2 mile cool down jog, 9:26 pace
T – unplanned rest day; I just ran out of time since I slept in and then had to work late.
W – 4.08 miles, 30 minutes, 7:21 pace
Th – Top Tier Crossfit! I went with a friend and I loved it! I’ll blog more about it soon. I have so many thoughts on Crossfit in general and as a runner. The WOD (workout of the day) was AMRAP (as many rounds as possible) of 10 burpees, 15 air squats (squats w/o weight) and 20 sit-up in 15 minutes. I got 8 (almost 9!) rounds.I got a deeeeeeep tissue massage later that night too. It. hurt.
F – Pure Barre. Holy. Crap. I almost died. I didn’t realize how beat I was from CrossFit – I could barely do the push-ups (which I never have issues with) and struggled to keep my form on the core work. Yowza.
S – 5 mile run, 33:30, 6:42 pace – it was gorgeous outside! I ran in shorts! My soreness obviously hadn’t fully sunk in because I felt amazing on this run. But, later that night, my quads and hamstring were wrecked. hahaha. DOMS is real.
S – 8.18 miles, 1 hour, 7:20 pace
Total mileage: 22.25 miles
How I feel: It was a low mileage week for me, and I am the most sore I’ve been in weeks, thanks to CrossFit. I’ll do a post soon on my thoughts on Crossfit and about Pure Barre (I think it’s making me a better runner!).
My email is a monster. I can SO relate.
No, you’re not sleeping enough. Unfortunately, I can also relate to that.
These gluten free gingerbread cookies from Amanda look amazing – love the simple ingredient list too!
Why easy sessions make you a better athlete. Fantastic post from a professional triathlete on why and how you should take easy days. Good reminder for anyone training and pushing their bodies.
These high end real estate listings in the Washington, D.C. area are incredible.

PS. I Listened to Episode 1 of Serial on my long run this weekend and I am OBSESSED.
You are so fast!
I read about bulletproof coffee in the newest issue of Runner’s World. It kinda sounds good, but it’s just as interesting to hear how the tide is turning on saturated fats!
Those cookies look soo good! I just ate lunch but now I’m feeling a little hungry again.
Holy Moly you’re so fast! I can only aspire to have that kind of speed one day! I have heard from several people to check out serial, I am going to check it out this week. 🙂
