Hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii! Holy moly, it has been a while since I blogged! Life has been crazy, but good! I moved to Charlotte about a week ago and I am absolutely loving it here so far (After one week. ha!) If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve seen me gush about this city multiple times already.

It all happened pretty quickly too, which made it even crazier. I had been planning on moving to Charlotte for a few months, but was just very casually looking for houses during the fall thinking that I would wait until spring to move. But then I found the perfect house and I KNEW it was it was the one and it was time to go.

So I packed up my things…and realized that about 75% of my belongings are kitchen items. 🙂 IMG_0764

I sold or donated nearly everything else – my couch, side chair, bed, and a ton of other random stuff. I didn’t love most of my furniture or it was in terrible condition, so I figured rather than move crappy things, that I would start fresh. It was bare bones living for a bit!  And it still is – my new furniture I’ve ordered hasn’t arrived. IMG_0709

The best part of my new house is the kitchen! I’m OBSESSED. And I’m remembering how much I love to cook and bake when I have a good space for it! It relaxes me, especially with a little wine and good music. I spent 3+ hours in the kitchen last night. (I’ll try to blog again soon and share this week’s meal plan…it’s just been non-stop trying to get my life organized here.)IMG_0964

Speaking of wine…look what I found when I arrived at my new house! My landlord left me a sweet note, wine and a lovely Fishs Eddy dish. Seriously…it’s little things like this (and a few other big things that happened with the move too) that served as reminders that I was doing the right thing. The right doors have a way of opening up when you listen to your heart/gut/inner voice. And I’m so, so grateful for that…because I have a tendency to procrastinate big decisions, and this was an opportunity too perfect to put off.IMG_0841

I miss all my friends in Winston-Salem already, but I know I’ll still see them and have already seen some of them since I moved! I’m really excited about the new adventure in Charlotte and I’m especially excited about how darn happy I am.IMG_0997

You know that feeling you get when you just know you’re in the right place at the right time and doing what you should be doing with your life? That’s how I feel about moving to Charlotte – and I’m really happy to feel that way right now because there were definitely some anxiety-ridden moments and mini breakdowns where I called friends telling them I was scared to move since I don’t really know many people here, and I really liked Winston-Salem, and blah blah blah. Luckily, I have fantastic, supportive friends who encouraged me over and over and checked in on me. And I eventually had to give myself a pep talk along these lines: “Self: it’s only an hour and ten minutes away. GET IT TOGETHER.” 🙂

    15. Ah, that is so exciting for you, Teri!! I was wondering via the instagram posts. I hope all goes well with the move in process. Your house looks great and starting with fresh furniture will be awesome. I always wanted to make a move like that from Eugene to Portland, but didn’t. But it’s not like we can’t move now. There’s just something empowering about someone making that decision for themself and going for it.

    16. so happy you are loving it there so far! and yay for new furniture. such a grown up thing to get excited about lol but it’s damn exciting.

    17. sooo fun! welcome to Charlotte! I moved here about 2 years ago from the triangle and I’ve really enjoyed it! I see you’ve already gone to my favorite yoga place, Yoga One! Enjoy exploring 🙂
