Revolve is one of my go-to retailers when I’m in a fashion pinch (mostly due to their huge selection and free two-day shipping!). And each time I’m on their website, I go down a rabbit hole since they carry such great brands. In this post, I’m sharing all the details about Revolve Clothing – everything from my personal experience ordering from there, the quality of their clothes and accessories, the customer service experience, and a few of my favorite picks. They have a MASSIVE inventory, so hopefully, this makes it easier if you want to shop there.
Let’s jump into this review, shall we?
Revolve is an online retailer that carries hundreds of designer fashion brands (500+!) and everything from clothes to shoes to accessories. It’s similar to Nordstrom or Bloomingdales, but marketed to a younger audience (although they have great options for someone like me in their late 30’s!). And while they have a bunch of well-known designer brands, they also carry lesser-known and smaller brands, and I’ve found some new-to-me favorites through them. Revolve has a wide range of price points, but in general, they are on the more expensive side.
The company is no longer private as co-founders Mente and Karanikolas took Revolve public in 2019. When they went public in June 2019, they raised $212 million in an IPO that valued the company at over 1.23 billion dollars! CRAZY success for those guys. The company is now under MMMK Development, Inc.
Revolve was started in 2003 by Michael Mente and Mike Karanikolas. They began the company from a small home in Buena Park, CA with a combined $50,000 they had saved from their jobs prior (they both worked at software companies). From day one, they offered free shipping and free returns (which was pretty unusual at the time – more on this below!), and they also began using influencers, noticing they were a massive part of successful marketing, all the way back in 2009.
They first worked with Rumi Neely, the blogger behind Fashion Toast, which kickstarted their first influencer campaign. Over the years, they’ve generated around $500 million in sales (and those numbers are from 2018, so imagine how much it’s grown since) with influencer marketing.
Revolve’s headquarters is now in Cerritos, California. Revolve operates in both the US and the UK.
Yep. Revolve is a reputable shopping site with high-end brands and some budget-friendly options. They have Revolve-only brands that tend to be more affordable. I’ve ordered from there countless times; sometimes the items are amazing, and other times the quality and fit are not-so-great (like any large online retailer), but they have super easy returns, so it’s never been an issue.
I have been very pleased with Revolve’s customer service so far. You can use this customer service page on their website to chat with their live support, find their phone number, and also locate their email. One of the best things about Revolve is that every order gets FREE two-day shipping. Once you start ordering from Revolve, you become a little spoiled by their shipping speed. Their returns are free, too, which makes placing an order through Revolve much less intimidating.
When I emailed and chatted with them about a return (I tested both options to compare!), they were friendly and helpful! No complaints.
Now that we’ve talked about the admin side of Revolve, let’s get into the good stuff: the products! Here’s what I love from their current selection.
I actually just got this Liam Sweater in the mail this past week! It’s oversized (wearing an XXS in the photos below) and super comfortable. The price is a little high for what I usually spend on a sweater, but the quality is definitely top-notch. The tomato red color works well for the holidays (Here are my Valentine’s Day outfit ideas), but it will also work thrown over my shoulders this summer for the 4th of July. It’s a punchy, bright red.
I got this Chana Silk Midi Skirt in the same order as the red sweater, and I love wearing them together (seen above). It’s 100% silk and has a stretchy waistline. It’s the perfect Valentine’s Day date night piece. I have a size small.
This House of Harlow 1960 x REVOLVE Rynn Coat is one of my favorite winter purchases. I love anything with faux fur, and this takes the cake. The traditional length doesn’t swallow my petite frame, but it’s still the perfect dramatic look. I have a size XS.
I’ve been a Veja fan for years (my favorite style is this velcro Recife look), and I love that Revolve carries so many variations. They can be hard to source in all sizes, but since Revolve carries so many, I’m always able to find my size in a cute colorway. These are the best sneakers for pairing with jeans.
I’m eyeing this Allegra Linen Mini Dress for the spring and summer. It looks a tad short on the model, but since I’m 5’1″, I feel good about it. The buttons are functional, so if you have a long torso, you could wear it as a top with the bottom few buttons undone.
This Sable turtleneck sweater dress was one of the best purchases I made a year or two ago fall. The dress is the perfect weight for a chilly fall day, but not overly warm. I’m wearing an XS length and it’s perfect on me (I’m 5’1″). I especially love that it can be worn with heeled booties, tall boots, heels, or sneakers.
On my current wishlist is this Kaleo cardigan from Tularosa. The light pink feels like a great transitional color that I can wear now in the winter and later on in the spring. I love the relaxed fit and fabric-covered buttons. I’d imagine I would size down in this so it wasn’t so relaxed.
This floral bikini set was a fun splurge for our trip to Dominica a few years ago. I LOVE the color and pattern, and the cut is super feminine. The bottom is a little cheekier than I would wear to our neighborhood pool, but if you need a pretty suit for a beach trip with girlfriends or a resort vacation, it’s a beautiful option. The Dreamer top is linked here, and the Dreamer bottoms are linked here.
I have a pair of Insider Crop Step Fray jeans from MOTHER in a wash from a few years ago. They’re stretchy and comfortable, and I get compliments whenever I wear them. If you love the look of jeans but would rather wear leggings for comfort, this is the perfect pair of jeans for you. They look great with heels, sneakers, and sandals, so they’re very versatile.
As someone who is 5’1″, I love a platform sandal for the summer. I wear them with dresses and even jeans. This pair of Cayden Platforms is the perfect neutral off-white tone, and I love the ankle strap. They lean a bit dressy, which is ideal for summer sundresses.
I’m a huge fan of AGOLDE jean shorts because they’re authentic denim that loosens and softens over time. I’ve tried many pairs of jean shorts, and AGOLDE are my long-standing favorites. The longer length is perfect for moms, and the finished hem option is nice and polished.
Revolve has recently started a sustainability initiative with their “Sustainability Shop” section on their website, which is super neat. Not everything on their site is included, but I love that they have this section where you can browse only sustainably sourced clothing options. The Revolve group is working hard to assess their carbon footprint and greenhouse gas emissions in order to inform their sustainability strategy for the future, as they’ve gotten some backlash in the past for being “fast fashion.”
Their criteria for an item to be considered sustainable and to be included in the Sustainability Shop section is extensive.
Here are some of the criteria:
You can shop for sustainable brands from the Sustainability Section here.
Absolutely. Honestly, the FREE 2-day shipping and easy returns are enough reason for me to order from them when I’m deciding between Revolve and another retailer that carries the same item. However, Revolve is on the more expensive side of shopping, so I definitely don’t shop there exclusively. I prefer to find a few great pieces at a time and update my closet that way. (I balance my wardrobe with some Walmart and Amazon pieces!) It helps to know I won’t have to replace my Revolve items frequently since the quality is superb. I should also mention again that they have free returns! Knowing I can send something back makes me much more likely to order it to try.
I also love that I’ve discovered new-to-me brands while shopping through Revolve. Finding a brand that fits well and matches my style always feels like a huge win, and it makes shopping for events easier in the future since I’ll know to look at that brand! I haven’t tried ordering their beauty products, but next time I place a Revolve order, I’m going to add a few beauty picks. I prefer to place one larger order at one retailer than multiple orders from multiple retailers (and hello, free shipping).
They carry some of my favorite beauty brands like Augustinus Bader, Charlotte Tilbury, and Jouer Cosmetics.
I hope these thoughts give you a good overview of Revolve as a brand, and an idea of some of the items they carry, so that you can place your order with confidence!
