When I first wrote this post, we were inching close to fall and I was SO excited about cold weather. Now, in mid-January, when I’m updating it, I’m about to be over it. I know we have a good bit of winter left, though, so a few new sweaters have definitely helped the winter blues – wearing cute winter outfits always gets me out of a slump.

This post is a roundup of my favorite affordable sweaters since no one wants to spend a ton on a sweater with only about two months of cold weather left. I’m including some favorites from Amazon, Quince, Abercrombie, and LOFT.

My Favorite Affordable Sweaters

1. Amazon Striped Knit Cardigan

I’ve had a variation of this striped cardigan sweater for almost 3 years, and I wear it into the ground each season. The material is softer this year, and the quality is a smidge better than in previous years. It’s not itchy, and the gold buttons make it look much more high-end. This is a super cozy option for working from home (business on top, and then wear comfy bottoms!). BTW – here’s my work from home setup.

2. Amazon Sleeveless Lightweight Knit Sweater

This is the kind of sweater you can justify ordering in mid-January since it can be worn well into the spring! The lightweight knit material and the sleeveless fit of this sweater make it perfect for transitional weather (although I wore it days ago in the dead of winter, too). It comes in many colors (I own pink and beige), and the fit is such a cute, relaxed look that works well with denim.

3. Abercrombie Crew Cardigan

While this Crew Cardigan from Abercrombie is close to $80 full-price, it’s currently marked down to $42, which definitely gives it a place in this blog post. It’s similar to the striped cardigan I linked above, but the material is thicker and a bit warmer. It has a more luxurious feel, which you’d expect for the price. This also comes in a ton of colors.

4. Quince Mongolian Cashmere Crewneck Sweater

Quince is a new-to-me brand this year, and I’ve been blown away by it! Their clothes are significantly more affordable than most retailers, but the quality is identical. Part of their business model is that they always compare their prices to traditional retail to show you just how much you’re saving. This Mongolian Cashmere Crewneck Sweater is only $50, 60% cheaper than conventional cashmere sweaters. I own cashmere from a few places, and this sweater is just as good as other brands (and better than some).

This Mongolian Cashmere sweater also comes in a v-neck option that I own and love.

5. Madewell Merino Wool-Silk Sweater Tank

This is another brand that I wouldn’t traditionally include in this post, but I made it since the prices are much better this time of year. This Merino Wool-Silk Sweater Tank is one of the most worn tops in my wardrobe this winter. The material feels just like cashmere (perhaps softer, actually), and it’s the perfect weight for layering. I typically wear it styled under a blazer.

6. Abercrombie Turtleneck Sweater Tee

This is another Abercrombie sweater find that works really well in late winter. This Turtleneck Sweater Tee is unique because it has short sleeves, but the thick turtleneck gives it a true winter feel. The length is slightly cropped (which looks great with jeans), and it comes in a handful of colors. Another perk: it’s marked down!

7. Lands’ End Cozy Lofty Mock Neck Jacquard Cable Sweater

I started shopping at Lands’ End this winter after a long (unintentional) hiatus. I used to get a new winter coat from Lands’ End each year, but somehow the brand became less top of mind for a few years. Thankfully, I’ve rediscovered it and ordered this Cozy Lofty Mock Neck Jacquard Cable Sweater. I love that it comes in a few colors since green can feel a bit too much like the holidays. I have a full blog post with my favorite Fair Isle sweaters if you love this look. And see my favorite winter coat from Lands’ End in this winter coat blog post.

8. Abercrombie Boucle Mockneck Sweater Tee

What can I say? I love Abercrombie sweaters (and Abercrombie jeans – see here!) This Boucle Mockneck Sweater Tee is super soft, has fun longer than normal short sleeves, and a cute mock neck. It looks great with denim, and the shorter sleeves make it a great sweater to wear in early spring. It’s also on sale.

9. Amazon Striped Crewneck Sweater

If I didn’t know this Striped Crewneck Sweater was from Amazon, I’d think it was over $100. Especially the Beige White Stripe colorway. It looks high-end and luxe, which is always great when the price is super low. This brand (ANRABESS) is known for making great sweaters on Amazon, and I’ve owned a few throughout the years. I’m planning to order this striped option to wear now with off-white jeans, and then later into the spring.

10. Old Navy SoSoft Lite Crop Cardigan Sweater

Finally, I’m including this Old Navy SoSoft Lite Crop Cardigan Sweater. While I don’t own it myself, I have many friends who absolutely love it. They say the material is thin but not too thin, it’s soft, and the cut is the perfect cropped length while still being fitted. The key to these fitted cardigans is to wear them as a top on their own, buttoned all the way to the top button or so, rather than wearing them as a layering piece.
