Hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii! Holy moly, it has been a while since I blogged! Life has been crazy, but good! I moved to Charlotte about a week ago and I am absolutely loving it here so far (After one week. ha!) If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve seen me gush about this city multiple times already.
It all happened pretty quickly too, which made it even crazier. I had been planning on moving to Charlotte for a few months, but was just very casually looking for houses during the fall thinking that I would wait until spring to move. But then I found the perfect house and I KNEW it was it was the one and it was time to go.
So I packed up my things…and realized that about 75% of my belongings are kitchen items. 🙂
I sold or donated nearly everything else – my couch, side chair, bed, and a ton of other random stuff. I didn’t love most of my furniture or it was in terrible condition, so I figured rather than move crappy things, that I would start fresh. It was bare bones living for a bit! And it still is – my new furniture I’ve ordered hasn’t arrived.
The best part of my new house is the kitchen! I’m OBSESSED. And I’m remembering how much I love to cook and bake when I have a good space for it! It relaxes me, especially with a little wine and good music. I spent 3+ hours in the kitchen last night. (I’ll try to blog again soon and share this week’s meal plan…it’s just been non-stop trying to get my life organized here.)
Speaking of wine…look what I found when I arrived at my new house! My landlord left me a sweet note, wine and a lovely Fishs Eddy dish. Seriously…it’s little things like this (and a few other big things that happened with the move too) that served as reminders that I was doing the right thing. The right doors have a way of opening up when you listen to your heart/gut/inner voice. And I’m so, so grateful for that…because I have a tendency to procrastinate big decisions, and this was an opportunity too perfect to put off.
I miss all my friends in Winston-Salem already, but I know I’ll still see them and have already seen some of them since I moved! I’m really excited about the new adventure in Charlotte and I’m especially excited about how darn happy I am.
You know that feeling you get when you just know you’re in the right place at the right time and doing what you should be doing with your life? That’s how I feel about moving to Charlotte – and I’m really happy to feel that way right now because there were definitely some anxiety-ridden moments and mini breakdowns where I called friends telling them I was scared to move since I don’t really know many people here, and I really liked Winston-Salem, and blah blah blah. Luckily, I have fantastic, supportive friends who encouraged me over and over and checked in on me. And I eventually had to give myself a pep talk along these lines: “Self: it’s only an hour and ten minutes away. GET IT TOGETHER.” 🙂

Congrats! That’s so exciting. The kitchen looks wonderful! I’ve been in my house for 3 months and I still have yet to hang any curtains, so I’m impressed haha. Just started following you instagram (I’m AmberKat831)! I don’t know why I wasn’t already.
If it hadn’t been for my friend Crystal who helped me unpack, my house would still be a complete disaster. She was a HUGE help on moving weekend!!!
YAY! i am so glad you’re here and so glad you’re happy! xoxo
congratulations on getting the guts to move. I love the welcome wine bottle. Too often people are too detached so I love the gesture there.
So glad you’re loving it there!! 🙂 I’m glad I’m not the only one who gets nervous about big decisions like that, but you’re right…. You just have to look at the positives, calm yourself down and go for it!! I can’t wait to be in that place where you are when it feels like you’re just where you’re supposed to be and everything feels right. 🙂

how exciting! so new job then too? I’d love to leave my hometown (Kansas City) for a few years but just have no desire to find a new job. :-/
I got a new job last July. Same job since then, but it’s just better for me to be in Charlotte for work. Plus, I wanted a fresh start!
Welcome to the Queen City! I moved here from Ohio about 1.5 years ago and LOVE it!! Feel free to check out my blog to find some of the places I’ve explored so far!
Thanks Melissa! I’m excited to find other local bloggers so thanks for pointing me to your blog! 🙂
Congratulations on your big move!! I have been following along on instagram. So exciting. How’s Maizey doing with it??
She is actually doing really well! She’ll be doing better once the backyard is fenced (in progress!) and can run around! I’m proud of her though – she’s a trooper with so much change. 🙂
ahhhhhhh. Congratulations on your move to Charlotte!I have always heard the most wonderful things about Charlotte I am so happy you have such a wonderful opportunity.
Your house looks absolutely beautiful, I am jealous of your kitchen ha ha
Best of luck!
Welcome to Charlotte! Hope you love it here and can’t wait to read about all the places you explore.
Thanks Miki!
Ah, that is so exciting for you, Teri!! I was wondering via the instagram posts. I hope all goes well with the move in process. Your house looks great and starting with fresh furniture will be awesome. I always wanted to make a move like that from Eugene to Portland, but didn’t. But it’s not like we can’t move now. There’s just something empowering about someone making that decision for themself and going for it.
Thanks Lauren. You’re exactly right – it has been incredibly empowering! I’m so proud of myself! 🙂
Congrats on your big move!! I love the kitchen 🙂
Thanks! Me too! 😀
so happy you are loving it there so far! and yay for new furniture. such a grown up thing to get excited about lol but it’s damn exciting.
sooo fun! welcome to Charlotte! I moved here about 2 years ago from the triangle and I’ve really enjoyed it! I see you’ve already gone to my favorite yoga place, Yoga One! Enjoy exploring 🙂
