This morning, I hit snooze at 5:30 AM and woke up 1.5 hours later. It felt pretty nice to sleep in. I typically love working out in the mornings because it frees up my evenings but lately I’ve been enjoying post-work workouts. (And the extra zzzzz’s.) Work has been pretty darn crazy lately and a hard workout at the end of the day is a great stress reliever. Obviously working out is always a stress reliever but it just feels even better right after leaving the office.
So, today at lunch, I signed up for an evening Pure Barre class and headed there right from work. Signing up ahead of time makes me accountable and gives me something to look forward to. Plus, I got to wear another top that I got from their clearance section a few weeks ago.
See the sparkly straps? Love.
I hadn’t been to Pure Barre in a while (maybe two weeks?) and since I’d been gone they’d introduced some new routines. Combining that with my extended break made tonight a bit brutal. The core workout nearly did me in. But it was good to be back in the studio – I haven’t been doing any other strength training since I started Pure Barre and so it’s been about 2 weeks since I’ve had any resistance training. All cardio and no resistance training makes for a squishy me. [Side note: my family nickname is Squishy. And Grrrrr. That’s another story.]
Ooh, have I ever showed you my running wall of fame? 😀 I noticed you can kind of see it in the pictures above…so, how about a little tour?
I tacked up two posters from races I love. The Moab Half Marathon, which I’ve run multiple times, and the Cherry Blossom 10 Mile Run, which I’ve run with my best friends for the past two years. I plan to frame the Cherry Blossom poster…the Moab one got kind of hammered when I toted it to NC from Utah so I need to email to see if they’ll send me a new one and then I can frame it. I also have a plaque from a New Year’s Eve 5K that I did in 13 degree temps at 11:30 PM, and I have all my bibs from the last year hanging up. I keep the safety pins on them and just loop them over a nail. I write on my bibs: the race dates, my time, my average pace, and my place.
I have all my medals hanging up too. My bestie Crystal gave me this idea and I LOVE it! My favorite is the running man (far left, middle row) from Moab and the leaf (second from right, middle row) from my marathon. [You can view my Races page to read more about each race I’ve run and see my times.]
This is all in my guest room so if you come visit, prepared to be inspired to run. 😉 Having my race stuff out motivates me when I don’t feel like running. But most of all, it reminds me of the great time I’ve had with friends and loved ones running all these races.
Do you display your race stuff? If so, how do you have it out?
P.S. THANK YOU for all the tips on real-food running fuel! I have so many options to experiment with now. Ya’ll are the best.

Your display looks great! My very best friend Jamie gave me a race bibs display from Etsy for Christmas last year and I absolutely love it. Although it’s meant for race bibs, I started hanging my medals off of it too. Here’s the link if you’re interested – http://www.etsy.com/shop/runningonthewall.
cute!! thanks for sharing!!
I think I might have to start a hiking wall of fame. Rocks and sticks! I’m not even kidding!
do it!
Ha! I started my “wall of fame”! Photos …

That’s a great idea!
The Moab Half is my dream race! I am hoping to be able to schedule vacation time in 2014 to be able to run the flat one. I know that one is supposed to be flat and the other hilly.
Have you been able to run both? If so which do you recommend?
The March race runs down the canyon – gradual downhill. The fall one (in October I think?) runs up the canyon, i.e. hilly. 🙂 I’ve only done the March one. I LOVE it. It’s absolutely beautiful. Let me know if you have any other questions. I’ve run it 5 times.
Thanks! I’m going to try and work it into my vaca days for 2014!
So fun! I think I have my few (maybe 3-4 medals) in a basket somewhere. Maybe if I hung them I would inspire myself to run?! Where did the top come from? It’s adorable!
I got it at my Pure Barre studio. The brand is Splits59. I have three of their tops and love them all! I’ve also tried on their pants and ahem, my ass looked amazing in them. (It doesn’t look that amazing normally. Those pants are magic.)
oh wait, I lied. That top is the brand 15Love. The magic pants are splits59 though. 🙂 although that’s not what I’m wearing in the picture – those are Ellie. Gosh, are you confused now??
Here’s a link to that top! http://15loveapparel.com/flaretank_150.html
I have my Cherry Blossom medal hanging from a magnet on the side of my fridge! I love being able to see it all the time 🙂
What do you typically wear to a pure barre class? We have one opening up in Greensboro next month and I don’t feel like my normal gym gear will work.
I wear yoga type clothing. Always leggings (long or capris) and any top, but I usually do a tank. And you need socks too.
I do the same thing with my race bibs–write the date, my time, place, etc. on the back. 🙂
This is so cool. I’ll start a wall like that myself for my medals, when I start geting them. The few i have, from way back, is just laying in a drawer somewhere.
