I joined Oliveda as a consultant this past May after trying a few of their products and falling in love. The timing was perfect because Beautycounter (who I’d worked with for eight years) shut down shortly after that. I have multiple sources of income (primarily through affiliate programs), so when I love a product and plan to share it online, I always look to see if there is a way I can link to it and earn a commission. Once I knew I loved Oliveda’s products, I signed up as a consultant.

Oliveda’s compensation plan for personal sales is eerily similar to Beautycounter’s (although the team incentives are substantially different), so if you sold Beautyocunter previously, most of this should be straightforward. However, it can be confusing if you’re brand new to the direct-sales industry, so I’ll explain it all here.

One unique aspect of Oliveda’s compensation plan is that there are no sales minimums—literally none. That’s what makes it more like a standard affiliate program, but I’ll explain all of that below.

Oliveda Compensation Plan Explained

This post explains the basics of the compensation plan, but as you grow a business and promote, these numbers change to allow for income growth. So, let’s get to how you make a paycheck.

In short, you can earn through two ways: generating your own sales to customers and building a team that produces sales.

Selling to customers

The first way you earn money as a consultant is by selling products to customers. As an Oliveda consultant, you earn 25% on products you sell to others. This is the most basic way to earn an income. Then, as your overall personal volume grows, you can earn up to 35% commission on sales.

For example: if I’m a new consultant, and I have a friend who spends $250, I would earn $62.50 in commissions from that order.

Developing a Team

The next way to earn money is by adding other consultants to your team. Building a team isn’t required, but you can earn additional income for supporting, coaching, and helping others sell. As your team (aka your downline) grows and sells products, you’ll get a small commission of those sales as well. It does not reduce the amount that your downline consultant earns. You start out getting a 5% commission on your team’s sales and that can grow to 5-10% as you promote to new Ranks. You also get paid on people “deeper” into your downline compared to other companies, from what I understand.

If you are looking for a multilevel marketing or mlm review, this post won’t compare different compensation plans, since I don’t know what other companies do. But I think other companies typically pay you more on your team’s sales and purchases and less on your own sales, which is why they push growing a team.

Oliveda simply wants people to earn the way they prefer – whether that’s from their own sales, from a team, or a mixture of both.

Developing Other Leaders

While you make the most on your own sales (Personal Volume), your pay increases as you build a team that works the business. As you mentor your team, you’ll help them grow their own business and promote to new Ranks. As that happens, you also earn bonuses and earn a higher commission on their sales. Essentially, as you help grow more leaders, you get paid more since it takes more work.

I’ll vouch for this – as my team has grown (both with Oliveda and previously at Beautycounter), I spend a lot of time helping my team. I have 1:1 coaching calls, I host team calls, I help them troubleshoot client issues, I answer questions on Voxer daily, etc. It makes sense that I earn a commission from my team because I help them grow their own business. It’s similar to a manager in corporate America getting a bigger bonus when his/her team hits their goals.

Growth Bonuses

You can also earn various bonuses for helping your team succeed and grow your business. These are the bonuses listed on their compensation plan:

  • Fast Start Bonus
  • Team Growth Bonus
  • Rank Advancement Bonus
  • Leadership Quarterly Bonus
  • Black Olive Star Revenue Share Program

Oliveda Title Ranks

You’ll progress through these titles as your PV and team size grows. The names crack me up but whatever.

  • Olive
  • Green Olive
  • Violet Olive
  • Silver Olive
  • Gold Olive
  • Black Olive
  • Olive Star
  • Green Olive Star
  • Violet Olive Star
  • Silver Olive Star
  • Gold Olive Star
  • Black Olive Star
  • Executive Olive Star
  • President Olive Star

Oliveda Consultant Benefits

Beyond earning money, there are a lot of benefits to being a consultant:

  • 25% discount
  • Incentive trips – Top-performing consultants can earn leadership trips to places like Africa, Spain and Greece
  • Being a part of a tight-knit community of consultants – some of my very closest friends are women I met through Beautycounter and Oliveda. This is not something I cared about going into either business, but I’m so thankful for it now.
  • Schedule flexibility – I love this aspect!! I value schedule flexibility a LOT after working in finance for over 13 years and now working for myself and being a mom.
  • Learning leadership and business skills, like marketing strategy, social media, and team building (all skills that will apply to other jobs)

Oliveda Compensation Plan Details

Here are a few terms that you may read or hear about, in regards to the compensation plan, along with their meanings.

Retail Commission

As I mentioned above, the #1 way to earn a paycheck from Oliveda is by selling products to others. This is called your Personal Volume (PV). Every consultant starts by earning 25% on what they sell. That “base commission” percentage grows as you sell more products. As that percentage increases above 25%, it’s a personal sales bonus.

Personal Sales Bonus

This works like a sales rep for medical devices, cars, or apparel. The “more you sell, the more you make” concept is almost universal because it rewards those who excel at sharing Oliveda with customers.

You earn a personal sales bonus as you begin to sell more products. The first jump is to earn an additional 5% on your PV. Then you can earn an additional 10%. So, the total commission you can earn on your orders goes from 25 to 30 to 35 percent. And it’s important to note that if you hit the next tier, you get the personal sales bonus on ALL your orders for the month, not just the ones after the point you get the bonus.

Downline Commissions

As I mentioned earlier in this post, you make a small commission on their sales as you grow a team. You earn 5-10% on Organizational Volume (OV).

Oliveda Compensation Plan FAQs

How much do Oliveda Consultants make?

What consultants earn varies significantly. Earnings depend on many factors and not everyone will earn a paycheck since not everyone works the business the same way. And the longer you work, the more you usually make.

Do you need a large social media following to be successful with Oliveda?

Not at all! Most of the consultants on my team only have a few hundred followers.

Can you only make purchases through a consultant?

No. While many people think you must purchase your products through a consultant, that isn’t true. (Again, I believe this is different from other direct sales companies where you can ONLY buy products from a consultant or rep. – they force you choose somebody when you check out.)

Oliveda allows anyone to purchase products online without attributing your sale to a consultant. But, if someone took time to help you choose products or educate you, you should support them with your order.

Think about it this way – if you loved a new restaurant in town, you would tell your friends about it, explain why you love it, and encourage them to try it, right? That’s how Oliveda works for me too. I love the products (I mean check out the before and afters of what it’s done for my skin in my Oliveda skincare review), so I like to talk about it and encourage my friends to try it as well. Simple as that. Except with Oliveda, I make a commission for any sale made because of my recommendations, and at a restaurant, I don’t.

Is there a fee for signing up?

Yes, it costs $50. The $50 enrollment fee includes a personal website that you can share with others to shop on. All consultants also get access to product training, business education, business analysis and tracking, and digital marketing tools.

After that, the only other fee is a $50 renewal fee. (Honestly, this is a great deal compared to the costs of maintaining my own website at terilynadams.com.)

Do I have to buy products when I enroll as a consultant?

No. There are no required product purchases when you join Oliveda — or ever, actually. But, of course, when you have products, it certainly helps you make sales since you can share your experience. You can buy a starter kit, which is a set of products discounted at 40-45%, when you enroll. That’s a deeper discount than the usual 25% consultant discount, and depending on your situation, it may make sense to purchase one. It’s a great deal, but it’s not required.

What are the minimums?

The only minimum is to pay the annual $50 fee.

Can businesses sell Oliveda?

Yes. Oliveda started in Europe over 20 years ago and was sold almost exclusively at spas, so the company is very supportive of retail locations selling it’s products. Retail locations have a few ways to purchase products at a deeper discount without needing a large inventory.

Is Oliveda a pyramid scheme?

No. Those are illegal. And if they were doing illegal things, I’m preeeeetty sure the New York Stock Exchange would not allow Oliveda to be a publicly traded company.

What if I don’t know anything about the products or how to make recommendations?

There is training on everything. Oliveda provides fantastic training on the products, how to use them, and how to make recommendations. There’s training on how to grow your own business, and there’s training on how to mentor and support your team if you go that route.

In addition to HQ resources, our team has additional ways to learn and get support, including private Voxer threads, a Facebook group, and team calls. Basically, I am there for my team as much as they want me. I can’t imagine doing this business without a supportive mentor. It makes a BIG difference. (If you’re interested in joining my team, fill out this consultant interest form for me.)

How much time does it take?

This varies and is up to each consultant. Some women spend just a few hours a week or month on their business, while others spend 10 hours a week. And some women spend 20-30+ hours a week, making it a primary focus in their lives.

Bottom line

I love being an Oliveda Consultant, and it’s a big part of my overall business strategy and income.

If you’re interested in learning more about the business side of Oliveda, fill this interest form out and I’ll be in touch! I would love to talk to you to help figure out if this would be a good fit for you. If you’re ready to join now, sign up here.

    1. I would love to try this product and sell it however I can’t really afford to pay $50 to sell a product for someone shouldn’t the people selling be the ones getting paid?

      • You do get paid – you’ll make a commission on every sale you make. The $50 covers everything that goes into helping you run your business – a website, consultant support, marketing materials – to name a few. I’d be elated if I could start any business for $50! I spend MUCH more on my primary business in a single week.
