If you’ve been following my social media for a while, you know that I am always on the lookout for new holy grail products. Tarte has come to the rescue a few times for me (especially with their Shape Tape Glow Powder!) and I’m a big fan of their makeup. (This post has my full makeup routine.)

Tarte’s female-founded, cruelty-free brand has stood the test of time. Started by Maureen Kelly out of her 1 bedroom NYC apartment in 1999, Tarte has been clinically proven to deliver reliable makeup with ingredients that can actually be pronounced.

Some of their more popular products include the beloved Shape Tape Concealer, Amazonian Clay Foundation and their Maracuja Juicy Lip products.

Tarte has many great concealers to choose from, but lately their Ultra Creamy Concealer has been my go-to. I look for a concealer that covers imperfections without creating cakiness or dry patches. When I learned that the Shape Tape had a more hydrating cousin, I ran to try it out. In short, I love it. So today, I’m sharing why!

Tarte Ultra Creamy Concealer Review

There are SO many reasons I love this concealer, but let’s break down the basics.

Hydrating

The Tarte Shape Tape Ultra Creamy Concealer combines the famous Shape Tape formula with a built-in eye cream for lasting hydration without sacrificing full coverage or a matte finish. This is the #1 reason I love this formula. The hydrating formula makes it super lightweight and perfect for any skin type, but it’s especially great for dry or aging skin – and that is exactly the skin type I have.

Clean Ingredients

The main ingredients are clean and pronounceable, which I love! The gentle formula makes it safe for sensitive and acne-prone skin, and you can feel confident in the high-quality ingredients that you’re putting on your face.

Long Lasting Full Coverage

The moisture-locked ingredients blend seamlessly into my other makeup products and stay put all day. The lightweight formula provides crease-free full coverage for all types of imperfections on the skin (even under the eye!). Tarte has clinically tested the staying power of crease-proof wear for up to 12 hours. Plus, it’s waterproof. Perfect if you’re chasing around a toddler all day like I am!

(If you want even MORE coverage, try their Creaseless Concealer. It’s a tackier formula so it’s truly full-coverage but does take a little more work to blend than the Creamy formula.)

Clean and natural ingredients are important to me, especially in a product I’m putting directly onto my face. I love all of the benefits that are packed into this little tube:

• Prickly pear, mango butter, and shea butter provide extra hydration
• Lecithin and Water/Aqua/Eau lock in moisture
• Ginseng reduces redness
• Propanediol enhances lightweight feel & protects acne-prone skin
• Vegan squalane minimizes fine lines & wrinkles
• Disodium EDTA prevents the concealer from going bad without irritating the skin
• Avocado butter brightens dark circles
• Leontopodium alpinum flower leaf contains vitamin C for anti-aging
• Raspberry ketone firms the skin
• Meadowsweet prevents inflammation

Tarte Ultra Creamy Concealer Shades

I very much appreciate the inclusivity in the shade range of this product line. With 35 shades (!), they created an opportunity for everyone to find their perfect match. The range is honestly SO wide that it can feel a little overwhelming! I hope this helps it feel a little more manageable.

Tarte Shape Tape Ultra Creamy Concealer vs Shape Tape

The Tarte Shape Tape Concealer that you’ve probably heard of or tried in the past has been around the block. Although this fan favorite is great for maximum coverage, I have found that it tends to crease and settle into fine lines. The Tarte Shape Tape Ultra Creamy Concealer is the perfect solution for this.

The creamy formula prevents it from settling or caking, but still provides that ultra coverage that I’m looking for, especially under my eyes and around my nose. This product is great for dry, sensitive, or aging skin.

I would recommend the original Shape Tape formula to people who are on the oilier side and don’t need that extra moisture, although the Ultra Creamy concealer has been tested and clinically proven to work on all skin types.

• The formula contains olive oil, avocado oil, and sunflower oil. However, Tarte products are always formulated without harmful igredients such as mineral oil, parabens, phthalates, triclosan, sodium lauryl sulfate, and gluten.

The Tarte Ultra Creamy Concealer coverage, is it comparable to the original Shape Tape Concealer?

• Yes! It provides a more hydrating finish, but still thoroughly conceals blemishes, fine lines, pores, and dark circles.
