My favorite outfits from the past week + how I balance buying classic items with on-trend items. See more outfits on my Instashop page!

Cognac bag, booties & a long white cardigan

I’m kind of obsessed with a cognac bag and cognac booties together. They just pull together a look. The bag was something I saved for, and finally bought a couple years ago and I’ve never regretted once it. Mine is no longer for sale, but this one looks just like it!

Everything I’m wearing except the shoes is a few years old (but I found similar items for you!). I like to buy higher-quality items that I know will be classic year after year (like a beautiful hobo bag), and then buy accessories that are more on trend each season–and less expensive.

For example, my booties with the block heel make the outfit feel fresh since block heels are everywhere right now. (I have a feeling mine will end up working year after year since I don’t think they’re too trendy.) Plus, they’re crazy comfy! I literally walked two miles in them last weekend and was totally fine — and I do not like walking long distances in heels.

The lip color in the picture above is a Trish McEvoy lip crayon I ALWAYS make sure I have – the shade is Gorgeous Pink. It’s super moisturizing, it goes on like a balm so I don’t have to look when I apply it, and it’s super flattering no matter what I’m wearing.

J.Crew Regent Blazer

I freaking love this blazer. When I’m feeling ick or like I just need to be a little dressier, I throw a blazer top of my outfit. They work well over dresses, blouses, and t-shirts. It’s a great investment piece for your closet since you’ll get a ton of use out of it, year after year. And that lip color I’m wearing is amazing! It’s actually a lip pencil, but it’s super moisturizing and stays put; I wear it without any lipstick or gloss on top & love the color and sheen.

3/4 Sleeve Poncho

I posted a picture of this poncho on my Instagram stories a few weeks ago and so many people asked where I got it. Alas, it’s very old, but when I was browsing on Last Call yesterday, I found two tops that look almost identical! I was so excited I found similar ones! It’s an excellent layering top for the fall and winter; the 3/4 sleeves give it so much versatility (alone, over a tank, over a long-sleeve shirt). Pardon my dirty mirror – oops.

And I’ll put these green pants away at some point…I just love the color, and it’s been 80 degrees lately, so I’m telling myself they’re still okay for fall. 😉 This top looks great with black Sloan pants and jeans too, so eventually that’s what I’ll be pairing it with.

I posted about my favorite cape sweater earlier in the week too! And I linked some dresses similar to the one I wore yesterday!

Have a great week!
