San Francisco Trip Recap – Tomales Point Trail, Coit Tower & Running

The highlight of my weekend in San Francisco was definitely the hiking the Tomales Point Trail! Well, that and getting to hang out with some of my best friends. 🙂 While I was in San Francisco for work, I stayed through the weekend to hang out with some friends who live in the area. While I’ve been to SF a number of times for work (and for Anna’s bachelorette party in Sonoma!), I haven’t really had much time to play and explore the city on my work trips. It was so fun to have some extra time to play! While it was cold during the week, the weekend was BEAUTIFUL. And I quickly remembered why I nearly moved to San Francisco instead of Charlotte. (I‘m glad I didn’t.) 🙂

Tomales Point Trail

On Saturday, Anna, her husband Paul and I drove out to Tomales Bay to hike the Tomales Point Trail. It was about an hour outside of the city and 100% worth the drive. The hike is about 4.75 miles each way and I can’t believe how quickly it went by; it took us a little over 3 hours. The views were incredible and all the flower bushes were in full bloom. There were times we couldn’t even see each other in the flowers because they were tall.

Anna took total care of me and had packed me a little backpack with water, sunscreen and a sandwich. What a gem. 🙂 It was so relaxing at the point to sit and eat lunch and look over the water, feeling like we were on the edge of the world. We stopped at Cowgirl Creamery in Point Reyes on the way home and refueled with cold cider, goat cheese and crackers. It was the most perfect day.

Pacific Heights view of the Golden Gate Bridge

Okay, I have to share this non-weekend photo that I just found while going through weekend photos. During the work week, I was on set at the most incredible house in Pacific Heights for a video shoot. They had a view overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge and the house itself was beautiful. A bit unreal, honestly.

Coit Tower

Okay, back to more play stuff! On Sunday, I met up with my long-time friend Courtney at Coit Tower. Courtney and I met in Winston-Salem nearly 10 years ago – crazy to believe! She now has two ADORABLE kids and lives about an hour outside of the city. (And she’s always been so nice to trek into the city to see me whenever I’m in town. What a good friend.) We met up at Coit Tower and the day couldn’t have been more perfect for it; we could see forever! After taking in the views, picked up lunch at a greek restaurant nearby and then headed to a park to eat and let the kids play before hugging goodbye. Again, it was another PERFECT day.

As I headed to the airport, I felt so overwhelmed with gratitude for the amazing friendships I’ve made in Winston-Salem that have spanned years and states.
